And so the story goes

Standard

Oh my word! Was yesterday an interesting evening or what?

I come home, meet a guy in the lift lobby outside my door packing up an old washing machine. Nothing strange with that really. Get myself comfortable on the sofa with some new magazine and then it starts. Crazy neighbor (let’s call her CN as I think I will use that name a lot in this post) is going off again. This time behind closed doors. And I can still hear it in my apartment. Poor neighbors in between is all I have to say.

It quietened down after a while. A little while. Then I heard noises in the lift lobby so curious as I am I decided to have a look out the peeping hole. Outside was CN’s boyfriend. Finally I got to have a look at him! Anyway, with him was a police officer. Hmm, interesting. They talk. Quietly (yes, very annoying as I wanted to know what was going on). I hear CN scream her usual obscenities whenever the door opens to let someone in and out. Yes, he is still gay according to her. In her anger she is starting to throw out names of his alleged lovers. Door closes. More people arrive in the lift lobby. Including a neighbor from downstairs. I start to think that maybe he hears them too. Most likely. But no, it seems that someone (who wants to put their bet on CN?) had been throwing things out the window. Their apartment is facing the drive way. That is not a smart thing to do.

More police arrive. Other people arrive. CN’s boyfriend goes downstairs to get some air while a bunch of people head into the apartment to speak to CN.

Quiet again. Back to magazines.

Fast forward. CN’s boyfriend comes back up together with more policemen. They go into the apartment but quickly comes out again. They start to ask him questions. Quietly. Luckily for me CN’s boyfriend doesn’t speak so quietly. Yay! He starts telling how they meet, how long ago etc etc. He also says they do argue a bit (a bit?!?). That she is not right in the head (no shit Sherlock!). He then starts talking about a washing machine (explains the one I told you about earlier), CN locking herself into first one bedroom, then another. How she accuses him of being homosexual (his choice of word). That whenever business contacts call him she starts to scream they are his lovers. How she goes through his phone to look for messages.

Mumble. Mumble.

Someone official-looking comes out of the apartment. Quiet talking. They seem to have realized that having this conversation in the lift lobby might not be the smartest of ideas so they decide to go down.

What?!?!?!? No!!!! How will I now find out what went on in there? You can’t just start the story and then not finish it. That is just so unfair!!

Down they go. Then some of the police disappear. Quiet again. The boyfriend seems to have quite some story to tell. Hands and arms are waving around. A lot. Yep, I see them from my balcony (of course I had to see where they went. The pool area).

At that point it got a bit boring so once again back to the magazines.

Then the elevator “pings” (for like the millionth time that evening) and there is more police. In they go. And out they come a few minutes later. With CN. Screaming and kicking for all she is worth.

Wearing handcuffs! And still using a language that is so not for print!

Whoopla!!! Now that is serious. And I couldn’t but help feel sorry for the one(s) that would share cell with her (if they do that here but I guess they do), they couldn’t have gotten much sleep as my guess is she went on and on and on about him. Being gay. Because he doesn’t want her. After three years.

Lady, ever heard of falling out of love?? Or wanting out because someone is a total mental case?

I know I can now be classified as a very curious neighbor but it is hard to be anything but when you live in the middle of something like that. Wouldn’t you want to know the story too?

Not sure if it will work, but am going to see if I can get Auntie in the guard house to spill the beans. Maybe bribe her with some food.

I’ll let you know if it does!

Told you so

Remember the crazy neighbor I told you about a few posts back? And that I said we haven’t heard the last of it?

Well, she is back!

Came out of the elevator after a great evening with friends and was met by a very loud conversation. Through closed doors. That is an improvement though but am still waiting for her to smash the door taking it outside.

Yep, will admit that this a reality show that I do enjoy 🙂

Together we did it

Standard

What a weekend it’s been!!! Am absolutely shattered but oh, it is so worth it.

On Saturday we had our Transformation in Humanity, Opening Hearts & Minds to Addiction Recovery Cocktail Benefit 2012 for WE CARE and it was a huge success. The grey clouds that worried us in the afternoon cleared up just in time, 400-500 guests attended, drinks were flowing, lots of laughter was heard all around, the Guest of Honor Michael Palmer (Speaker of Parliament) held a very good speech. The auction went well even if a bit slow at times. The entertainers did a fantastic job and even managed to get the ones who remained till the end to boogie it down. That created even more laughter.

And, best of all, we managed to raise 250.000 dollars (Singapore ones). A quarter of a million. I still have a hard time believing it. And there are more donations coming it which is just so fantastic.

I am so proud of everyone in the committee, it was hard work but we got there in the end and what matters most is that WE CARE now have more funds to continue their work.

Girls and guys – WE DID IT!!!!!

(as for yesterday, it was spent on the sofa doing absolutely nothing…)

Friday I’m in love

One more hour to go…can already smell the weekend around the corner.

This must have been one of the longest days ever, every time I have looked at the watch only a few minutes have passed. Sigh. But soon, real soon, I am out of the office.

Have a great one dear readers!

Three more days to our event on Saturday and tonight we are meeting up to do a final run-through of the program. That is always a bit intense. But fun.

Now I just need to find a way to sell the remaining 8 tickets I have…

One singular sensation

Monday again. Sigh.

Had a pretty relaxed weekend, the only exciting day was Saturday really. It started off with a belated birthday lunch for two of my friends, Nicky and Tony, at Capricci. Most of the gang was there which was great fun and luckily we had a table inside because it was one of those absolutely scorching days outside, the ones where the aircon is your superbest friend.

The food was brilliant (the homemade paccheri with homemade Italian sausage, Portobello mushroom and Parmesan cheese sauce was to die for!), if you live in Singapore I really recommend you to try this place. It’s located on 27 Tanjong Pagar Road.

Unfortunately Saturday was one of those days where one thing came after another so straight from lunch me and Julian (another friend) went to meet my parents for dinner at Osteria Mozza. After having had four courses at lunch, dinner wasn’t what I wanted at that point so settled for a small appetizer. Felt a bit bad about that as they do have some fantastic food there (and a very cute bartender…but that is besides the point). Next time.

Dinner done it was time for the evening’s event.  A Chorus Line. I like the movie but had never seen it on stage. And I loved, loved, loved it! Some of the characters are just hilarious.

Afterwards the plan was for me and Julian to meet up with the gang again but they all called it quits pretty early so we ended up going to South Coast to meet with some of J’s friends. 3 hours and one big bottle of Perrier later I decided to call it a night and oh, was I happy about that waking up on Sunday morning. Head clear and me ready to tackle the day already at 9am – and I did get a lot done but as it was mostly those hateful household chores that we all have to do, I am not going to bore you with the details.

How was your weekend?

End of the week

Standard

I get out of work
And then I throw away all of my cares
I get out of work
And then I wash the week out my hair

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
It’s hard as could be
But by old Friday evening
We’re free, we’re free, we’re free

End of the week
The weekend started
Been working so hard to play
End of the week
It’s time to party
End of the week

You’re tasting freedom
No one to push you around
End of the week
And life has a reason
End of the week

Street are alive
You know everybody’s going somewhere
You put on the slide
You gotta beat the crowd just everywhere

And all the music all the dancing
Get you so high
And all that sweet romancing
Oh my, oh my, oh my

End of the week
The weekend started
Working so hard to play
End of the week
It’s time to party
